xtop.exe freezes (win xp)

Sep 03, 2003 1 Replies

Hi I'm running ProE 2001 on WinXP proffesional (Amd 1,2 Ghz, 512 MB ram, Gf2 gts 32 MB). When I'm trying to save some project's on my hdd program (xtop.exe) hungs up (it says "no answer"). The project and the libraries are opened from mapped hdd. After winxp reinstall nothing has changed. The system resources (memory, cpu, lan usage) during saving are minimal. I'd like to add that ProE works fine on Win2k (4 stations, each PIII 733Mhz, 512MB, Gf2 gts 32MB) and Compaq notebook with Winxp home edition.

Sorry for my english, I hope you'll understand.

Waiting for solution

Greetings - Lucas

What is the full version number of your Pro/ENGINEER 2001 ? I know that some of the old versions of 2001 don't even install on Windows XP (that's right... there are probably hundereds of "sub" versions of

2001). ProE 2001 started to support Windows XP about half-way through the 2001 "sub versions". Also, I found that a LOT of older versions of 2001 were REALLY buggy and would crash way too much.

A good example: ProE version 2001200 (I think), is buggy and doesn't install well on XP. Version 2001 sub version 2002100 however, installs great and is almost perfectly stable.

Sorry that I can't really help though, I don't know much about this stuff.
