CMASS is reviving NEMROC, the New England Model Rocketry Convention, which was held annually from the mid-'80s to mid-'90s. All those interested in sport rocketry are invited to attend this 2-day event which will be held in Amesbury, MA over the Columbus Day weekend.
On Saturday, October 8, 2005 CMASS will present a number of parallel educational seminars, vendors, forums and workshops encompassing all aspects of Sport Rocketry. These activities will occur at the Amesbury Middle School, 220 Main St., Amesbury, MA from approximately 8:30 AM to
5:30 PM.On Sunday, October 9, 2005 launch with CMASS at Massachusetts' premier launch site, Woodsom Farm Park, which is owned by the Town of Amesbury and zoned for open space conservancy, thus protecting it from development. The Park contains approximately 370 acres of prime pastureland, bird nesting sites, open space, drumlin hills, and wetlands, bisected by Lions' Mouth Road and is located approximately two miles from the Town Center. The Powow River is the north western boundary of the farm, running from the lakes, back briefly into New Hampshire and then into Lake Gardiner, through downtown and into the Merrimack River. The Woodsom Farm property was purchased in 1989 from the Woodsom Trust for $5 million dollars and also includes two parcels of open space land behind the houses on Lion's Mouth Road. It adjoins the Town Forest. It's a great location 30 minutes north of Boston just off Route 95/495 where we maintain a 4900 ASL waiver and routinely fly everything from MicroMax to J-impulse motors (low K-impulse with prior notice and RSO approval.) There are no launch fees and the time is from 10:30-16:30.
A final schedule will be available by 16 September. Participants can pre-register via e-mail and interested vendors are requested to contact me via e-mail to reserve a table. It's leaf peeper season so if you need a motel, it would be wise to reserve one now.
