Why?

Naw, I too get tired of his "evil empire" "conspiracy" stuff. Sometimes he can be like Tommy one note. However, I do believe that he's right when he says that TRA has gravitated into a good o'l boy club. I've been in this group since the mid 90s way back when the T-shirt scandal was born and back when John Cato was routinely roasted. So, I've got some history to draw upon. Jerry has his moments to be sure and his out-of-sync- step can be irritating. He shouldn't have mislabeled the motors. However, if I had a nickel for all of the motors I've bought off of auctions that were shipped without permits...well, lets just say I'd be living a lot larger than I do now. What he did was dumb. He's never going to admit it so, let move on. BTW, yesterday I did hear him say that the NAR wasn't such a bad group after all FWIW.

...what you did is no better, if you knowingly purchased motors that were not going to be shipped properly, and without proper documentation.

...and it's equally dumb every person who knowingly buys, ships, and receives improperly documented motors.

I've been part of exactly ONE motor transaction that did not involve a dealer. The motors did not (even under any of the ATF's claims, past, or present) require a LEUP, but they did require HAZMAT shipping. To resolve that, a dealer was found who would, for a small fee, get them shipped properly.

I believe that.

I think there are times when nerves are struck on both sides. Some times, and it works either way, the truth hurts.

Donnie & Marie: The 12th of Never.

FWIW, as a kid, I used to get really bent out of shape by all the bickering between the neighborhood kids. It used to drive me crazy when we would be playing ball or whatever, and 2 kids began to argue about something to the point it stopped the entire group from enjoying, what just moments before, had been a great time of pleasure and excitement. They selfishly managed to disrupt everyone's day with their personal problems and others were sucked into the vortex, chose a side, and at that point the day was pretty much lost. There were times a free for all would ensue. What a waste.

My dad always gave me the same advice about it: "For lack of fuel the fire goes out" & "Whatever angers you, owns you." May sound silly but both are true. Ever noticed how many times on rmr when the fire is almost out and some one notices and runs to throw more fuel on it? You have to wonder at times, who owns who?

There's something to like about every one of the regulars on rmr. Why not find something to like, or just leave them alone?

Gotta wonder at times.

I agree, up to a point. Whenever he claims to be an innocent victim, it will be necessary to post the facts.

Well, Kevin, when I did it way back when, I did it without knowing it was wrong. There was no intent to deceive, just plain ignorance. Things are different now however. Just last month I turned down a guy in CN who wanted to sell me motors simply because of the shipping rules. That being said, I still cheat on cigars in that I smoke Cubans when ever I get the chance, and I also drink shine when I visit my father in law. The point is, I step outside the law occasionally whenever I feel the law is unreasonable or just plain overly intrusive. (for example, I refuse to give more than my name and age on the census form). The hazmat laws are valid and I don't break them. Jerry shouldn't have either. But answer this, is his crime any greater than the last time you broke the speed limit or failed to signal a turn? I don't think so and thus I wouldn't bust your berries over it.....even though the risk to others was far greater. I know what Jerry did could have spoiled it for all of us, but it didn't. We all know it was wrong so lets move on; that's all I'm saying.

The shipment being discussed was over 200 lbs. of motors. I hope people aren't shipping that much.

R. J., Above you mention two little "pleasures" that you partake of, knowing they aren't legal, but feel it's okay. Hey, I'm with ya there. I don't think what Jerry did is in the same league at all though. Jerry's offence to the moonshine drinking is more like shipping kegs to minors for their party. Breaking a speed limit law is common place amongst a large percentage by far of all freeway drivers. But you won't get away with it in a small town that just had a child killed by a speeder. Jerry deceptively labeled a huge shipment of rocket motors on a day when the Federal Government wants to shut down our entire hobby! Jerry's actions were way out of line, and his words before being caught were trying to lure more people into following his defiant lead.

I know of no parallel action in my life, and you haven't given an example of one in yours either, that are as selfish and harmful to others as what Jerry did. And ya know what? It isn't even the first or second time he has done it! It's just the first time he's been caught. No, I can't just let it go either. There is a snake in our midst and I must shout to my friends, "look out, a snake!"

Even DOT claims non-comercial shipments are exempt. Ie resales of personal collections.

Why do you insist on turning so many posts into recharacterized anti-Jerry and alleged Jerry anti-TRA posts, when none of that even happened??

Oh, you're not ant-TRA?

Where is that stated?? Why do carriers, such as UPS, refuse to ship from non commercial sources? What about US Postal? Try to openly ship a larger motor via USPS, and see what the response is, and I'm not talking about Estes or other small consumer type that can be shipped as "Toy Propellant Devices".
