Car Model Question - Colors

I just purchased (from a Big Lots $5.00 deal) an AMT '67 Mustang kit ("The Fast and the Furious" packaging). The instruction sheet provides a very detailed cross-referenced chart for exterior colors, interior colors, accent colors, etc. I assume this is pretty standard for AMT. However, to someone who is not an everyday car modeler (such as myself) this chart is a bit cryptic (lots of "dots" and "A's and B's" which seem to mean something). Is there a nice online reference which explains all of this?

Thanks

Not sure about the 'A's and 'B's but the dots, if in a graph, are saying that colour was available with some other from the manufacturer.

Standard? Not especially. It depends on the time when the model was released. Any AMT model from before Ertl bought the moulds is not likely to have such info. Some Ertl kits have a lot; some, not so much.

If you're looking for details on the movie car try googling that topic. I have the url for an auto colour site bookmarked on my other computer but at the moment it is having trouble accessing the internet.

Your next best bet is looking up Mustang owners' clubs.

Also, many of us who do car models paint them with actual auto touchup spray cans from auto parts stores. Use these over a good primer, such as Krylon primer, found in most hardware stores and Michael's craft stores.

I think that's it and it is excellent. IIRC, I used their chips to find a reasonable match for a '41 Chevy coupe colour.

Same here. I've used that web site for paint color ideas for several of my automotive models. It's amazing how far back many of the paint chips go.
