Detail Painting of 1/12 F-16 Cockpit Questions

I have a question re the detail painting for the 1/12 F-16 cockpit kit. I've seen builds of this kit and have been impressed with the detail painting of the switches and knobs. When I've tried such detail painting, the Tamiya paint dries too fast.

What kind or brand of paint do you recommend? Should flat or gloss paint be used for the siwtches and knobs?

Thanks, Jeff

For such detailed hand-painting...I would recommend enamels, such as Humbrol. You can even mix in a bit of Winsor Newton, or a similar brand of artist's oil paint, to keep them from drying too fast. In addition, the pigments in oils are very powerful, and ultra fine (i.e. a little bit goes a long way).

You can use acrylic paint, but use this stuff

(Liquitex Slow-Dri)

Just mix it in the paint to slow down the drying time. Experiment a little to determine just how much is needed.
