P51 Mustang cockpit color - Metallic blue green?

May 19, 2004 3 Replies

In my 1/24th scale trumpeter mustang kit they call out a Metallic blue green for the seat and part of the cockpit interior. Is this right? Which paint numbers in either model master acrylic or tamiya acrylics would be closest? I have yet to see a picture of this color in a plane.

PLease help!

Jeff

I've never heard of a combat Mustang interior that color. Directives for WWII aircraft dictate "zinc chromate green" for all interior crew areas except the instrument panel.

The Keeper (of too much crap)

Normally the US built planes had a green interior, but the nearest I've heard it come to metallic is "Bronce Green" and "Zinc Chromate Green". The Mustang mainly had the Zinc Chromate green in the cockpit, but I have seen that the assembly line in Dallas used the darker Bronce Green

I believe that should read "Bronze Green".
