I believe I was scammed by seller paintingmodel. He was selling resin and vinyl figures. Sometime shortly after I'd paid for an item he became "Not a registered user". Ebay failed to notify me (I was after all listed as a recent buyer). The time specified for the item to arrive has passed and several emails remain unanswered. He reappeared as animeusa, but I got him suspended. He has reappeaerd as model-store. Same items, very similar ads, terms and conditions with hotmail accounts. I have notified ebay, after much difficulty.
What I find most aggregious is this:
!) Ebay does not notify recent buyers/bidders when they suspend a seller. It should be no problem to see who they are and you would think there is some sort of ethical obligation to do so.
2) Ebay apparently does not much care who thier sellers are unless it is brought to thier attention.
3) Ebay's use of cookies seems more to stop hearing from irritated users tan anything else. Every time I try to go to the contact page from seller fraud pages it tells me it can't proceed because I don't have cookiers turned on. Which is crap since I had both ebay.com and doubleclick cookies on my machine.
I am beginning to question whether it is safe and prudent to do business through eBay. I am going to make it my business to look for these ads and notify all the bidders/buyers I can that they are in a potential scam situattion.
