I am just looking for opinions on this kit, perhaps as it compares to the Tamiya kit. Or if anyone know of someplace that has good pictures of the sprues that would work too.

Info needed on Academy 1/48 Birdcage Corsair

FWIW The Academy Birdcage Corsair is the Hobbycraft Birdcage Corsair with different decals. It is a fairly nice effort, engraved panel lines, basic wheel wells, and a little spare in the cockpit. The Tamiya kit is much nicer, but also much more $$.

John, Assuming you're talking about 1/48th scale, if you can't find anything on the "Academy" F4U, look for reviews of the Hobbycraft kit(s). They're the same kits, just different boxings.

Thats what I was afraid of. I was hoping the kit would have been in between the HC and Tamiya in terms of quality.
