I have one aircraft kit from them and it seems fine but not overly detailed.

is this post red?

Nope, B&W.

I don't think they are still around as Apex. I think the moulds are now boxed by another company whose name has escaped my brain.

Yes, it was quiet here. And Carl's home from the hospital!

ESM 72 database shows these three from Apex:

ILYUSHIN Il-4/DB-3 "Bob" LAVOCHKIN LaGG-3 POLIKARPOV R-5

Can't comment on origins of the molds. That's what updates are for :-) Anybody?

Very nice Christmas and continuing Channukah. Lots movies, Disney stuff, desired clothes and a small but excellent selecton of models and books. Always get a couple of magazine renewals, too, which is always nice. Cabin fever at the moment. Justin is confined to bed until tomorrow after second leg surgery. Keepng him in bed without sitting on him is next to impossible. Lots of good reading with him. Finishing Ivanhoe tomorrow and on to one of his favorite subjects, pirates. He's also way into knights at the moment.

Hope that the new year finds everyone healthy and happy.

Tom

If it's similar to their Sputnik with carrier rocket, it's in 1:144 scale, which explains why you don't have details on it, Tom. ;-) I just sold the Sputnik kit and it seemed to be nicely molded, at least better quality than the "red" stuff e mentioned.

Quiet Christmas here. Not much to celebrate, with two deaths in the family this year, so I'll just be thankful 2005 will be over soon. All the best to Justin.

Very sorry to hear that. It's even more disturbing and sad to remember during the holidays.

I am putting together an anniversary obit for my father. He died in

1989 and his 100th birthday would have been on 12/17. It is actually a bit uplifting as we tend to remember the upbeat while the negatives fade. He got me into modeling with his antique cars and wide variety of other subjects. I actually saved one of his models which sits on the windowsill next to my desk. It's a Strombecker wood train, the very early one with the passenger cars that look like stagecoaches.

Hope that the new year improves for you and for us all.

Best wishes,

Tom

Good ol' Ivanhoe. Justin might like "The White Company" by Conan Doyle also.

Someday you'll have to tell me which hick town that is. Maybe some of my models live there now.
