I was a fan of the show while it was on and I'm still more than a little miffed that United Paramount Network (UPN) canceled it. I always thought that Jonathan LaPaglia was a hoot; with just the right mix of swagger and humor as Frank Parker, the "Chrononaut" who could go back in time exactly 7 days on missions for the NSA. Well worth watching, IMHO...

It rather depends on how you define "good", it was entertaining, but predictable, the cast were good, but the characters were straight out of 'central casting'.

Star Trek it wasn't, however, the first episode/pilot was prophetic in some ways, however, I'll say no more to avoid spoiling it for anyone.

I suppose I should add, that while the central premise was sci-fi based, the rest of the programme was squarely in the 'action / adventure' genre.

Think Alias or Buffy, rather than Star Trek or Farscape.

On a possibly unrelated side note, according to "The Ring", you die a horrible, bloodcurdling death in 7 days. Coincidence? ;-)

Did you get to see the Boomtown marathon lastweek? It'd be great if they brought it back. I miss my Shield too. I've always liked The Commish (baldie's old show).

In the UK boomtown first series has been shown again, not seen a 2nd yet, waiting for the third of The Shield, heard it got dumped by the tv channel in the US. belive it or not it was only a few months ago i first ever watched NYPD blue, liked that, wasnt into CSI Miami, and i hated that sex crimes one, poor acting i thought and Munch looks like a English peodophile.

CHiPS has Just finnished a early episode on cable, now back to the very start of series 1.

You're a bit late for Buffy, given the last episode aired the week before Xmas on BBC2 (although the late night uncut versions of season 7 won't start being shown for a week or two yet). I never got into Alias, but Buffy is worth getting hold of on tape/DVD - season 1 needs to be persisted with (I didn't, and only became a regular viewer part way through season 2 on the recommendation of a friend), seasons 2 and 3 are excellent, 4 still good but 5 less satisfactory. Season 6 was weaker with a couple of exceptions, season 7 looked better but I'll reserve final judgement until I've seen it uncut. One problem is for seasons 4, 5, and the last bit of 7 some plotlines interconnect with spin-off show "Angel", the two were originally shown in tandem in the U.S., but as the latter was taken up first by Channel 4 and then to the even-more-minority channel 5 (which I can't get) you'll have get hold of more than just "Buffy" itself if you want the whole thing.

"7 days" was on UK terrestrial about a year ago (BBC2, IIRC) and was O.K. but not brilliant - I couldn't be bothered recording episodes I might not be able to catch, so the only thing I regret about it was only catching the last bit of the episode where they spoofed "Groundhog Day"

- that was quite funny.

Boomtown's last few aired episodes will be clearly marked by the "guest" appearance of Vanessa Williams. That should clue you in to when you've seen them all. She doesn't really make a huge impact on the show, but I find it rather sad to end the series so shortly after hiring such a high-profile addition to the cast. It was one of the best nights for "primetime" television during the week. They have since been shuffling various shows into and out of the Friday 10pm slot on NBC.

I'm not so into CSI Miami, or the new Cold Case. I prefer stock CSI, and Jag's spinoff of Navy NCIS. I like alittle more "cop" in my criminalist, but not too much.

Munch has his moments, but for the most part he's dressed much that way in reality, and his comedic stylings have also been much the same. It's his "schtick" you could say.

What does everyone think of these shows..?

Miracles Veritas : The Quest Briscoe County Jr.

24 JAG Navy NCIS Law & Order Law & Order : Special Victims Unit Law & Order : Criminal Intent CSI Dragnet (the one with Ed O'Neil) Hack The Handler Vegas The District

I know they're not in network or chronological order, just wanted to know if anyone else's TV tastes were similar to mine. I used to be able to be "happy", watching my favorite shows at my favorite time for such, without having to guess if they were on or if they would be interrupted by unnecessary crap they could marquis on the edge of the screen if they really needed to inform us, as in a storm warning or football score.

Only ever saw one or two Briscoe Countys. I didn't consider it 'must-see TV'. The rest I've completely missed.

Never saw it.

Wasn't interested.

Never saw it. I'm not a big fan of Westerns. (The one exception being "The Big Valley" -- I had a *major* pre-teen/schoolboy crush on Barbara Stanwyck. [Same with Diana Rigg of "The Avengers"] I guess I'm a sucker for strong-willed, older women...)

LOVE IT!!! Best. show. EVER!!!

Yep! (Although their idea of Military Law is a bit idealized.)

It's okay, but CSI does the "Enigmatic, taciturn Leader" archetype better.

Admittedly, I didn't get into this one until the last Orbach/Bratt season; but I'm a regular watcher now. Orbach's throwaway lines in the teasers are priceless.

Sorry, I can only take one perversion per week and it involves putting bits of molded polystyrene together using thickened methyl ethyl ketone...

Definitely! I thought Vincent D'Onofrio was excellent in both "Full Metal Jacket" and "Men in Black" and he sure doesn't disappoint in "Criminal Intent"!

I was a Johnny-come-lately to this one too, but it's well worth watching.

DAMN ABC!!! DAMN THEM TO HELL!!! AND MAY C'THULU ETERNALLY C> Hack

Not interested in any of them.

I used to watch it occasionally if an episode looked like it had a promising premise; but after Lynne Thigpen died, I think that it has become totally unglued and deserves a merciful death.
