When Farrah died, St. Peter gave her one wish before she entered the Gates of Heaven.
Farrah responded that whe wished all the children in the world would be safe from harm.
An hour later, Michael Jackson arrived...

Closer to home, a friend and co-worker of mine died today (just this afternoon) after a lengthy battle with cancer. Joe was an avid biker - an iron-butt rider (1000 miles in 24 hours or less) - and usually owned up to five bikes at a time. Mostly BMWs, but also a Harley Road King and a couple scooters. If it had two wheels (or sometimes three) Joe would ride it. He'd been down hard more than once, but always got up and rode again. Last time I can remember riding along beside him it was Joe on his scooter and me on my Wide Glide...and I'd just caught him heading home from chemo...
Joe was also a retired Veteran, a decorated US Navy Master Chief, and one of the nicest guys you'd ever want to meet. We're all going to miss him.
i got him to autograph my copy of shock value. he introduced divine when d was doing a tour with d's vamp act. it was campy, trashy and all those great american traditions.
yeah, my condoleces too. i seem to be at that age where friends and heros are checking out far more often than we can stand. he must have done 30 years? iron butt is a dream. if i could do it..i'd be well.
His uniformed time and then some...he also continued to work for the Navy as a Civvie. Right up until about 3-4 years ago or so.
i bet he's quiet and unassuming and well worh knowing?
He was a good egg, alright. You had to really get messed up for the Master Chief in him to show...or cross him up about something to do with a motorcycle. Then he was an instant biker. Not a lot of margin between the two, I think.
too right.
and Karl Malden 7/1/09.....at 97 yrs old
except for that awful cop show. that was just plain olofactorally displeasing.

Maybe he got run over on the Streets of San Francisco.
If we're keeping score - I was 14 years old in 1978 and yes, I had the Farrah poster. Only poster I ever bought that wasn't album art or something like that. Absolutely had the crush thing going on.
As an adult you learn that looks are a shallow and fleeting thing. You also learn that smiles are their own reflection of a deeper beauty - and she had a smile that could make your heart skip a beat.

I never had the poster, but I had her biography that I bought at a school book sale. I've never met anyone else that had that one. I think of the above group, the only one that saddens me was Ed McMahon. He actually served his country and was something other than just a "celebrity".
and love is always over in the morning.
