(OT) Joseph McConnell Memorial

When I was a kid, my family visited Apple Valley, CA while on vacation during

1968. I remember that a local real estate agent took us on a tour of the area and we stopped by what appeared to be a memorial for Korean War ace Joseph McConnell. I remember seeing a F-86 mounted on a pedastal.

Does this memorial, including the F-86, still exist?

Thanks, Jeff The eagle has landed

I went skydiving there a number of years ago and didn't notice an F-86 on a stick, but maybe I just wasn't in the right place to see it.

You might try:

Town of Apple Valley Public Information

14955 Dale Evans Parkway Apple Valley, CA 92307 Phone: (760) 240-7000 ext. 7072 Fax: (760) 961-6242

I guess that would be the only place in the nation where you could say, "I was on Dale Evans the other day....."

Does anyone remember the movie starring Alan Ladd? I'd love to get a copy on dvd if it's ever available

Just found it: F-86H Sabre serial 53-1515 in an unusual white colour scheme. She can now be found at nearby Apple Valley County Airport.

But I was on Buttermilk once, long ago and not far away.
