It's Revell's boxing of the Matchbox kit. There is fine raised lines on the kit, not Matchbox's infamous gouges. If Revell hasn't messed with the moulds you should be able to make either an F.6 or an F.2A version. As 1/72 Lightnings go it's half decent. Oh yeah, around the rear of the fuselage are some raised details that are actually vents on the real aircraft. You'll need to sand those off and either scribe them in or use decal to replicate.

I have a couple on my shelf, i will check later but i think its diff to the Mbox old kit, of which i have about 30. The Revell is a poorer plastic i know, i think its a v v poor copy of the Hase kit, of which i have a pile, in orig Hales boxes to the latest box art ones.
The Revel is oop.
i can confirm, as i have over 70 Lightnings in total, inc a cool 16 at least Mbox T55's that the Revell kit is a damn close copy to the Hase kit, both have seperate brake flaps, the Mbox has them moulded shut and is totally differant
Detail is 99% same for both with teh Hase being a tiny bit sharper, not much in it.
All righty then! It's not the Hasegawa kit, it's the equivalent Frog mould that's been pounding about Eastern Europe for the past 29 years. I have one done somewhere in the Ukraine and it was in purple plastic, covered with enough mould release to stain the box. The two kits look exactly alike as far as the parts go but the layout on the sprues is substantially different. Detail is by raised lines and an F.6 is all you'll get without converting. Thanks, Jules, for the clarification.

Yes i had heard about the Frog kit, but forgot all about it and had thought that was it and not the old Mbox one in the Revell box, i dont have that, only the v v old Frog P1A? kit but been doing a vac with a mix of Airfix kit rather than start that.
I did notice the spru layout differant but apart from that both kits are just about spot on the same.
