"New" Revell-Germany Su-27 Flanker 1:72

I see Revell AG has a new Flanker kit out. Anyone know if it's new-tool or a rebox? Thanks....

I was wondering too. Is it Italerei or the 15 year old Takara kit Revell did?

Latest news from a friend who has bought one is that it is a re-box of the Hasegawa kit.

What it doesn't show on the box though is that they have included an excellent decal sheet depicting the Ukrainian demo machine that visited RIAT Fairford.

The same one that is in the Cutting Edge sheet.

At least now you can get the Hasegawa kit for half the original price - although I don't rate the kit for accuracy, prefering the Airfix kit.

Also FSM lists it as a reboxing of the Hasegawa kit, but, looking at the price, does it include also the metal and photoetched parts?

Btw, it's already available at Hannant's.

Apparently not.

Although that is no bad thing.

From what I remember of the Hasegawa kit (I still have one stashed away somewhere), the white-metal parts looked like they were a bit of an afterthought.

The wheels/legs were great, the K-36 seat needed replacing with a larger, more accurate NeOmega seat, but worst of all was the metal parts for the grilles on the sides of the intake!

Hasegawa provided the grilles - but no recesses in which to place them - they just stood proud of the surface and were best left off.

What should sell the Revell kit though - although they don't seem to advertise the fact - is the decal sheet - which sounds superb!

"Made in Japan" is imprinted on the box, so it is Hasegawa, which in turn means it is a re-box.

But with the metal parts replaced by plastic - and half the price !!

AND...........

It includes a superb decal sheet for the Ukrainian AF Su-27 demonstration machine that visited RIAT Fairfor - the one that you had previously to buy a Cutting Edge sheet for !!

At least that's what my spies tell me - I haven't actually bought it yet....
