I just discovered one can hold down the delete key and continue selecting as many sketch entities (edit sketch mode) as desired. I do know about window selecting, picking individually or using ctrl key to select multiples. This might be in the manual somewhere and just haven't stumbled across the information.

Seconded! Awesomely cool.
Since we are on delete tips, I have on that I like:
When you have a complex face and need to edgeconvert half of it (or whatever), you can edgeconvert the whole face instead of picking all, then trim off only two entities making two profiles (one that you need and the other one). The profile you do not need, use RMB -> "Select Chain" and hit delete. The profile you need is left.
Saves the time of individual entity-by-entity selection for edgeconvert.
Nice tip - Thanks!

Why not use the contour select tool? Then you don't have to delete anything. Just convert the edges, and pick the area(s) you want.

Hi Jim,
Please help me understand. Lucky for me, ignorance is curable.
Can I edgeconvert a profile from point a to point b and not have the leftover entities that I usually must delete? I.e like what one sees in other programs as a "chain" from Here-to-There.
I do understand your region suggestion and do see how it is better. I have not gotten completely comfortable with regions yet and this has not yet become "SOP" to use them across the board, but I understand their superiority. The thing that bugs me about regions (I do use them) is that when more detail is added to sketch later on, you need to exit the sketch, edit the feature and add the new profiles to the feature - this being the main reason that I tend to avoid regions - sort of a pain, but still workable. I usually take my medicine up front and avid the re-edit problem (minor as it is).
What I really think regions need is a way to include new ones into the feature while one is in the sketch and not have to go back and edit the feature to include the new stuff . . .
Thanks,

As long as the profile you *want* is enclosed by sketch geometry, any extra lines or lines that you would normally have to trim can remain as they are. The contour select tool doesn't care if a sketch doesn't consist of one or more closed paths.
I agree.

Holding the delete key and selecting sketch segments intrigued me. I tried it and it works, but now I'm a little nervous about it. I think what's happening is that by holding the DEL key, it is continuously repeating. It just happens that you can slip a mouse click in between the keystrokes being sent and then the delete action performs its duty on that selection.
I guess the reason for the nervousness is that you have lots and lots of keystrokes going all the time, and while wasting a keystroke is not an issue, I always wonder what's happening behind the scenes that I don't know about and would prefer not to be happening. I guess I don't like the lack of control.
So, I think for now I will continue to CTRL select several items and then hit the DEL key. Interesting observation, though.

This also works if you have hotkeys set up. For instance, I have "H" for hide. If I hold down the "H" key and select a series of parts it hides them all. It works for suppressing parts, too.

Nice! Now all my key board fingers will have something productive to do. Next I will try holding down the Esc key and see if this will keep me from making dumb mistakes.
