HOW TO FORM A CURVED HELIX

Hi,

Can somebody help me Im using SW2005 sp2.0 and am trying to create a curved spring like the garter springs used in shaft lip seals unfortunately the helix command only seem to want to do a linear spring and not follow a curve.

Any tips tricks or work round's greatly appreciated.

Use a sweep with twist to create something as imple as just a twisted surface. Then you can use convert edges or even componesite curve on the edge of the surface to get the path you need to sweep your curved helix.

If Dale's suggestion and John's example didn't do what you need, try looking at some of the examples on Mike Wilson's site:

The curve-driven pattern on Page 2 and the adjustable curved helix on page 5 may help.

Please come back, Mike, we miss you!
