Looking for some IDF example files

Hello all,

I would like to have some IDF example Files to test my IDF translator for solidworks. I use it with LAYO1 (I made an IDF export tool for this as it has no IDF export function yet). I can import the files my tool generates but would like to support the rest as wel.

Currently it only supports the PCB outline and holes from the IDF file, it places solidworks SLDPRT for the components.

Regards Frank.

Frank,

Download 15 day demo of Desktop EDA Protel/SW converter. There is a sample IDF folder.

Why?

SolidWorks 2005 has IDF Export built in - CircuitWorks lite.

The 15 day evalution version of CircuitWorks also has example files -

Stan,

CircuitWorks "lite" imports an IDF assembly as a single part. The individual components are represented by part features.

Desktop EDA imports the IDF assembly as a SW Assy and parts.

The original post was for IDF files to test his IDF translator on. I'm assuming he is generating a proper SW assembly from the IDF and not just a "part" representation of an IDF assembly.

Cheers,

Len

Hy Len,

Right the IDF import in SW2005 is useless for us, maybe just for the PCB board. I looked at Desktop and Circuitworks, the Desktop version crashed when importing my files, and Circuitworks simply is too expensive for our use (but did work great). So in my spare time I tried some programming, and it worked (it's not super stable but it does the job for me). I now have a Assembly of the PCB with a "realistic" look of the PCB, so our mechanic guy can use these for the enclosures, and it looks great for documentation purposes.

Regards Frank.
