selecting edges in 2005

Oct 02, 2004 3 Replies

I used to be able to select an edge `through' a face when in wireframe mode. There was no need to use the select other routine. I rarely had to use a filter either ; just seemes to be able to pick the edge I wanted without a face getting in the way.

Now it seems like we are forced to use the `select other method' every time we want an edge. Please tell me I am missing something and that they haven't made this more difficult.

tools, options, display/selection, Selection of hidden edges, Allow selection in HLR and shaded modes

Personally, I can't work that way. If I can't see the edge, I don't want the cursor to pick it up, plus it makes it hard to select faces when zoomed out in an assembly, it prefers to pick up hidden edges.

Anyway, hopt that helps

Thanks Matt. I had forgotten about that one. I was so happy with the way all of my other settings got picked up along with toolbars,etc.- that I didn't even consider the fact that any setting was different from what I had for

2004.

Actually, the box to check for the way I like to work is the one for hidden lines that says: allow selection in wireframe and HLV mode. I couldn't work that other way either.
