Does anyone know a place to download a trial version of the Solidworks app?
I used an old copy of the app 6 or 7 years ago and am wanting to evaluate Solidworks versus AutoCAD for 2D wire modeling of airframes and airfoils.
On that note, does anyone have a recommendation for a design app for this purpose?

SW doesn't do wireframe modeling except as a basis for solids or surfaces.

Contact a reseller. You can find them on the SW website. There are a couple evaluation options available to you. If you are designing airfoils you might want to look at CFDesign or Floworks.
you should to use EMULE.
