SW2004 SP1.0 & folders

Just loaded SP1.0 & tried the folders. You can now go to a part in the FM tree even if it's in a folder. Good job. However, the folders STILL won't stay closed. Bad job. Too bad - I had high hopes. I still use them, as it does offer the opportunity to shrink the tree, and you can now go to a part. However, having them blow open every time you rebuild is a real pain.

No, anything that does a rebuild (B, or Q) makes them fly back open. I have tried collapsing one level at a time, all at once, one part at a time, save, rebuild & save, Q & save, etc., etc., etc. If there is a magic sequence, I haven't found it. It appears that the only improvement over 2003 is that the "Go to" function works.

Is anything selected prior to a rebuild? Is 'Scroll selected item into view' on or off?

Just tried all combinations of the those two items again - no difference that I found - none worked.

I am developing a new theory about this bug. It seems to be mate dependent. If you have mates on two parts in different folders they always fly open on rebuild. At least on my laptop box. Do the mates get resolved every rebuild? I will continue testing this extremely aggravating problem. Anyone think this theory is bogus? BTW I was so glad they added the folder feautre (2001?) Then I used it one time and saw this silly stuff and bailed out on it. This release.... I thought what the hell I will give it another try. RATS! They still fly open! WTF? Scroll into view is OFF Seems like I might of had some models in 03 that this worked on? Hmmm

Hmmm, I'll attempt to test it today. It's a theory that I hadn't, in all my testing, recognized.

I also jumped on folders and was disappointed by the "fly-open" problem. However, did you notice that the "go to in the tree" feature does now work? I will still use the folders because at least you *can* collapse the tree into something smaller, even though it won't stay there. And, a collapse is as close as a RMB - you don't have to go to the top - just make sure nothing is selected.
