pdmworks, reinstate "deleted" document

Mar 30, 2005 3 Replies

A document was "deleted" from our pdmworks vault which means that it has ended up in the obsolete folder under the project folder that it was originally in. Can I just stop the pdmworks service, move this documents folder out of the obsolete folder and back into the project folder and re-start the service or will that cause problems? Seems like it should work.. In the mean time I have selected the option that no user can delete documents.

Thanks, Sam

Sam,

Yes, this can be done, but there's a little more to it than just moving the file.

What you need to do is first stop the service as you mention, then in the Obsolete folder, there is a folder named "delete_sldprt_Date_032505_Time_

170134". You need to move this entire folder back to the project where you want it to go, turn off the "read only" property on the folder, and then rename it, removing the "_Date_032505_Time_170134" part. Then restart the vault. I recommend having the switch turned on in the vault admin for Vault validation and rebuild tree.

That should be it.

Good luck
