the lost paths

My user profile got corrupted and the IT guys had to create a new one. The problem is when they transfered over the files from my old profile (that they could) they did not get any SW stuff. I seem to have a new install of SW (the other one was very customised). All my referenced file locations, custom templates, etc are all gone. Does anyone know how I can get these back? We have so many things (all linked to the network)that it will take close to half an hour to re link all these locations.

If anyone else's setup is close, you could use the Copy Option Wizard to output a reg file of their settings. You might also try doing a registry search for SolidWorks - I would think your user section would still be in there somewhere.

If you need an excellent hotkeys file, I would gladly send you mine. :-)

For some reason we never could get the copy wizard to work. I guess I am going to have to do it manually.

I would like to have a copy of your hotkeys file, might find some I like. Thanks for the offer.

I've had mixed success with the Copy Options Wizard. Exporting seems to work fine. Reimporting has been hit and miss.

However...

The resulting export file is a .reg file. To reinstall your settings, double-click the file from Windows Explorer and let the OS do its thang.

If you want to copy your previous toolbar-setup u can copy the reg key for it: "CURRENT_USER\Software\Solidworks\userinterface"

You have to copy the entire dir and copy it to the new location.
