XP2 - How to install SP0.1 if only have SP0 CD

Ask your VAR for 0.1 CDs. You can get current CDs if you are on subscription. Come to think of it, I better order some too.

I personally had to face this over the weekend. My HDD had damaged it's boot sector somehow, and I had lost my Win CD's, so I decided to just buy WinXP Pro with SP2 already built-in. It's nice not having to worry about updating over a modem ;^).

I bought a new HDD and installed fresh WinXP Pro SP2.

Then I installed 2005 SP0 and it went perfectly. I ran it for a few minutes and all was good. Next I upgraded to 0.1. No problemo.

Maybe the key in all of this is to disable the new firewall stuff in SP2? The release notes specifically mention the firewall as being the cause of the problems, so I disabled mine. I have my own firewall software anyway.

Even PhotoWorks will have problems with the firewall.

I just recieved a new computer and of course it had win xp sp2. I did not have any trouble installing from cd the 2005 0.0sp. I did make sure that I had all anti-virus disabled. Then simply installed and when it got done told it not to launch solidworks then did the upgrade from 0.0sp to 0.1sp. There was no problems, however I noticed that it asked for only the first 2 disks during the upgrade. Solidworks seems to be running fine, although I have not truely tested it. I hope this helps in some way. Good luck.
