Thanks, Tobin. I see NOTHING on my monitor that even remotely resembles a link in his original post. How come you could figure it out, but I see nothing? Am I somehow (my pc) configured incorrectly?

I could see it because my News-reader, Unison

displays HTML as plain text. What I actually saw was a jumbled pile of and formatting commands which really shouldn't be used in newsgroup posts. :)
Your PC is probably configured correctly but your news-reader (Google Groups, it seems) was confused by the sudden change to HTML halfway through Mike's post. That's not really a problem though as people shouldn't be using HTML in messages.
