=>The mere fact M$ turns on such a buggy protocol (as well as automatically =>launching attachments and other (l)user-friendly features) as default =>was enoug reason for me to abandon Microsoft Outhouse Express.
MS defaults as a group are bad. Very bad. And a lot of them are impossible or difficult to eliminate. I stiall want to know how to get rid of My Documents and a few other default folders. I have my own default folder system, and I do not want MS's silly ideas about folder organisation to interfere.
Another Very Bad Thing about MS computers is that almost all programs automatically install their *.dlls and other modules on the system (boot) partition - which means that when (not if) you have to repair or reinstall Windoze, you also have to repair or reinstall the programs. Considering that a program can easily be written to call its *.dlls etc from its own directory, and that the API calls will always be to the same system directory, that's just plain stupid.
Third Very bad Thjing about Windoze is that it does not automatically creat at least three partitions - boot, program & data, and system back-up. That would go a long way to making Windows more reliable. As for the Dynamic Disk
- good grief!
Well, I got W2K to run Train Simulator, and that and scanning are about all I use it for. That machine also has OS/2 on it, and will shortly get Linux installed as well. Are humoungous HDs wonderful or what!
