Superman Returns layout

My Webster's dictionary (not the shortened, abridged on-line version) uses "a feebleminded person or mental defective who has a potential age of between 8 and 12 years and is capable of doing routine work under supervision."

We've seen enough posts from Eric to know that he isn't a moron. How can you not see Ray Haddad's use of that "moron" as a vulgarity in the context of our discussions on rec.models.railroad?

Very simply. It doesn't fit the definition. Does your version of Webster define "moron" as being vulgar?

How 'bout them angels, hey? Don't believe that Wikipedia stuff about the head of a pin, now.

Of course it doesn't... because whether "moron" is vulgar depends upon the context, and a dictionary can't determine the context of how it is used.

That's like asking if a dictionary defines a particular word as "insulting" -- it can't be done because it depends upon the context. A dictionary can't define a word as vulgar or insulting, and it can barely define if a word is profane because even that depends to some degree upon the context of how it is used. Were you asleep in your grammar classes?

No more than most,, but if you'll look again at the two words that I gave you definition for, you'll see that the definitions do show contextual meanings. Somehow, I get the feeling that I'm debating this with a member of The Flat Earth Society, so I concede that you are correct in your own mind.

Ray, I know a guy who poked a snake, a cottonmouth to be exact. He got bit. Bruce

Well, duh . . .

Are you trying to somehow make me worried about poking the snake?

Oh man you are NOT kidding! The layout is breathtaking. The only brand name I saw was Marklin (during the movie). I also thought of MR covering this. Here's another video that divulges some easter eggs and has some great behind-the-scenes shots, including a board with a dozen or more transformers:

So what is your point... do you think the Websters entry for "moron" should say it is "vulgar?" "Usually vulgar?" "Occasionally vulgar?"

So do you think that if Webster's doesn't say the usage could be vulgar, the word can never be used in that sort of context? Please try to clarify, instead of pulling a "flat earth" argument out of your asshole.

Uh, I was the one that pointed out that the term "moron" was not considered to be vulgar.

Sir, it appears that you are incapable of grasping the concept that you just might be in error, therefore you are welcome to have it your way.

You seem to be the only one who thinks it's vulgar.

You keep pushing the "it's vulgar" button; apparently, expecting a different outcome.

If calling Eric a "moron" on rec.models.railroad isn't a vulgarity, what do you think qualifies?
