Now go out and get some Bachmann On30 and think of it ALL as one great big layout in forced perspective.

For the next scene.... Pan right to Sunnyside Physriatric Hospital gates... slowly transition past the lobby... through the security doors and down the hall... Pause before a closed door centering on the small closed veiwing door... open the viewing door slowly and transition through and pan the figure of the back side of a poor, dejected soul whose hair is all frizzy and bent from the multiple electric shock treatments has has endured and the tightly bound straight-jacket forced upon him. A club member has some G in the back yard, N in the garage. He runs HO at the club and recently has been seen running on the O side of the club. In order to insure that he is perpetually broke he is seriously into sound on all ... when he's not playing with his RC stuff. He is rumored to have a job.

I keep my former scale stuff in the storage area upstairs. It includes a bunch of O Scale stuff from before my O club disbanded, HO, HOn3, some old Flyer and a bunch of N scale equipment. I am now in On30 but would not part with any of the old stuff. It's just nice to take it out and look at it sometimes. When I get recalled, I am leaving my stuff to both sons so they can fight over it.

There is a simple solution to this. Send me all your HO stuff. My eyes need the "big" HO scale, and your layout room will be so much m,ore interesting filled with an N layout beautifully landscaped and detailed. You can fit so much more into your space in N.

I started with N then went to HO now I have switched to 2 rail O scale,and it caused a cascading effect , One G , one N an two HO scale running, friends of mine have or are in the process of switching over after seeing my new stuff. I would of probaly originaly would of gone 2 rail O if I seen it first. What ever you do dont check out the atlas O 2 rail SW switcher units, Thats was the turning point for me.

My going to 2 rail O scale was due to a visit to a scale O club. The sounds and sights I saw had me joining up the next meeting. Most members ran US Hobbies steam with sound. You should hear a big Niagra pulling a long train and chuffing into a tunnel. Steel wheels clicking along rail joints, real steel rail and wood ties... Too bad the club folded.

You pretty well hit the nail on the head, Besides the great sounds not to mention the new digital sound systems with speakers twice the size of HO units, its like going from a 15 inch monitor to a 30 inch monitor, just so much easier on the eyes. I get a kick of people here knocking 2 rail O, first off they got to realize there is: 2 rail O scale and ther is: O27

Reminds me of a roommate I had in college not too long ago. His family was quite into the model railroading addiction. Down in the basement of their house, they had an HO scale full layout, not too big, something around...maybe 12' x 20' in an L-shaped pattern. The entire attic was filled with an S scale American Flyer layout, I mean you climed up into the attic, right into a complete layout from wall to wall.

And in the backyard...I don't know the scale, but a layout big enough to ride on that wound through their large wooded yard, including a big wooden trestle. The cars were maybe five feet long, you would sit on top and rest your feet on foot rests that could be extended from the sides of the cars. They had a live steam locomotive and a couple electric "diesels." When I was last there some years ago, they were working on a streamlined Santa Fe Super Chief set behind a set of PA's. Wow. Now that was cool.
