Horizontal hopper cooled diesel FS

In the year 2087, people will be looking at these engines being displayed and saying things like "they don't build them like that any more". By then engines will have ceramic pistons, plastic crankshafts, cost very little and throw them away when they have only run for 50,000 hours.

I must admit that *I* didn't know they made them like that anymore. Some of the wording on other engines is even better - how do you fancy lubrication by "centrifugation splashing" or cooling by "obligate wind"?

We all laughed in the office at the "Click here for a big one" !!!! on the image.

Many years ago I had a Honda 50. The owners handbook was a hoot. There was a whole section titled "do not cause unloaded puffing needlessly". The rest of the book was as good. It managed to reduce a whole class of mech eng undergraduates to tears of mirth one day.

My favourite handbook of all time was the Moto Rumi 125 flat (as in lying down!) twin TS scooter - the all ali one with the stunning die cast aluminium main frame.

It had obviously been laboriously translated by some poor Italian with a dictionary and NO knowledge of English.

The starting procedure began "Depress the pedal commencer by the longing thrust of the pedal extremity". After that it was hard to follow ..............

I once bought a guide book to Bologna, which said on the front page:

"Not be reproduced in writhing or in any farm."

I suppose different nationalities have different outlooks on copyright protection! :-)
