Hello all, For the many readers of this news group who have e mailed me about this Petter I am pleased to serply you with the folowing infomation The engine provided power for the Hazlemere Ritz Cinema and weighs 2.1 tons rated 50 bhp at 500rpm. it was removed in 1985 by Mr Bicknell and spent the last 20 years down at the Holly combe steam collection which is where I acquired it.

Please note that nether the National or Atomic are for sale sorry!

infomation.........

Shame the "many readers" does not seem to be translating into 'many posters' at the moment!

Nice engine Steve - my father tells me that his local cinema (Hayes in Kent or thereabouts) had a large open-crank engine, possibly Blackstone.

Hoping to spark of some sort of thread on cinema engines, but you have to put the mockers on it by taking the p***

Clearly flogging dead horse here.

Our local scrap man (who is also an SE collector) has a Crossley vertical oil engine of about 18 HP iirc that he salvaged from the local flea pit in Burnham-on-Crouch. Going from memory I think it is a VO. It was/would be driving a humungous 110v generator. I haven't seen it at the rallies for about a year but at the last count it wasn't running. I'm sure it's only a question of time as it's one of those incredibly slow restorations that keep showing up on the rally field looking just slightly tidier than the last time you saw it. A fabulous engine. One of the definite plusses of being a scrap merchant I guess (I suppose being a closet millionaire is another plus, but that's another story).

Drip, drip! But at least I have the consolation that you have revealed your true colours once more - the sideways jibe about P T-Es dog was particularly unkind, though it took me a while to realise what you were on about, I couldn't remember being any kind of rodent in a previous life!

All I want from this group is the opportunity to natter with like minded individuals in a pleasant, non-confrontatonal manner from time to time - a bit like an SE club evening that you can switch on whenever you like.

Oh dear, I come back from a few days holiday to find that our resident personality disorder/borderline physcopath has popped up from underneath whichever stone he normally inhabits. I'm sure there is a group somewhere on the fringes of usenet for those who like to post illiterate and inaccurate comments about other people, so, Mr. Green, why don't you go and find it, if you have the nous. Then you can leave this group for people who like to talk about engines, or whatever peripheral activities happen to be the topic of the moment, much like any engine club in fact. Perhaps your boasting about the size of your machinery is an effort to make up for other inadequacies you may have? For the meantime, I'll put you back in the killfile so I don't have to listen to any more of your pathetic drivel.

You must be joking!,I can believe most things, but claiming that you have 'friends' is verging on the delusional! Oh, and its 'replies, not reply's, and the word you are really trying to use is 'here', not 'hear' Now do go away and play somewhere else, there's a good chap.

Philip,

I've said it you before and I'm going to say it again, you make the english language seem poetic without having to resort to expletives :-))
