Way back in my youth (circa mid-1950's) I recall an article in the "Meccano Magazine" about a Hornby 0-gauge railway also at Longmoor. This used to occasionally be laid out on the floor of the Officer's Mess (presumably at weekends) and must have been almost entriely "for fun". Regret I can't remember too many other details, although the stations had such names as "Nattering Quietly", "Chuntering Parva" and a couple of others in similar vein.

No evidence of it when I was using the mess in the 80's...
They had probably progressed to ScaleFour
Well, that was about 25 years (give or take a couple) after the "Meccano Magazine" article.
