Think Hornby just want to get the information out to the customers with a bit of publicity and make things fair for all their distributors and competing magazines. This is just there chosen way - of course wont satisfy everyone and cant satisfy some ever !
theyve just chosen a suitable date that allows retailers to be prepared - suspect internet shops dont want to be entering details and photos on new years day - and all retailers use different formats ! as stated, magazines need long lead times.
Suspect this was an accident of display not a publicity stunt and Hornby have managed it very well by basically saying nothing - no use crying over spilt milk !
Previous 'leaks' have tended to be more a case of letting certain magazines have some info that is relevant to articles in the current issue.

A low blow there ! Any worse that seeing a grown man cry for 12 months waiting for a 9F !
Anyway do some of the little brats good to wait a bit - too much 'me want now' these days ! Plus its bad management for parents to promise anything before they know they can deliver.
Cheers, Simon
And there ends the second lesson from Scrooge!...
So the announcement by Heljan at Warley at the start of December was all a dream? Or was it just the 'Falcon' that I was dreaming about?
Yep the scrooge that spent christmas in Disneyland Paris as the main present for 'his nibs', didnt count the pennies there, enjoyed every minute, only slightly peaved that I cant have a fairburn tank as my present.
Pictures of American 5/8ths size steam President class anyone !

So the large poster proclaiming they were doing a 58 that I saw on their stand at Warley was wishful thinking was it?

From memroy only in the large logo version, and one or two oddities (such as Ellington Colliery which was sort of a cross between large logo and standard blue).

With respect Martin that's irrelevent, and I did point out earlier that many retailers have been dumping class 60s at or below cost price.
The reason I quote RRP is because that is the price quoted by the manufacturer in their catalogue, and is the starting price from which retailer discounts are calculated.

Eh? It was promised for Christmas by the manufacturer, or are you saying neither Hornby are not to be trusted? They're the ones that quote delivery periods in their catalogue - Bachmann do not!
But ok for manufacturers?
Just for your information we've several customers who purchase the 'Thomas' range for autistic kids. Many have been ringing daily in the run up to Christmas to see if 'Emily' has arrived, but it was only about a week before that Hornby finally conceded that 'she' wouldn't arrive until 2007.

LOL - you've not been around for the last two or three years when the Hornby website was so easily hacked between Christmas and New Year that planned releases were available for anyone with the nouse to read the internet. Sound familiar even if the modus operandi was slightly different this time around?
John.
A valid point, John. If the RRP goes up, so does the cost to the retailer, who then has to make a decision as to how many he orders etc.
Hornby's 2007 website section seems to be missing the trainpacks......

They've probably changed the trackmat again to accomodate Skaledale buildings.

Either that or they're using the 'Thomas the Tank Engine' trackmat throughout their range and you've missed the trackpacks because they're listed along with the 'Thomas' items.
John.
He was talking about the trainpacks not the trackpacks, John. I was wondering where they had gone as well.
