" The world's biggest toy fair opened in the southern German city of Nuremberg on Thursday with safety and innovation getting priority among the 2,700 exhibitors. German model railway specialist Maerklin said it plans to introduce a new brand called Maerklin Toys aimed specifically at children.

The range includes 500 products ranging from toy trains to circus themes designed to encourage pre-school children and others to take an interest in model railways. "

What an original idea! Someone should suggest that to Hornby.

It's possible in this case the new owners of Mäerklin just see it as a way of selling cheap imported toys under the famous German name.
