I never knew hornby has such a bad rep for their points!

And, I have just finished the track laying for my layout. Oh dear!

Mind you it is just the class 20 that has problems, all my other loco's are fine.

Firstly Hornby points are basically designed for train set, rather than model railway use. They diverge at too sharp an angle for good operation (and this comment also applies to Peco setrack points).

We've had reliability issues with Hornby points since manufacture was switched to China, with numerous examples of the tie-bar area falling apart.

The plastic frog (or crossing nose) is much larger on Hornby points than any other make. This does tend to cause stalling when running slowing through the point.

Anyone else care to add to these notes?

From past experience, even Hornby's own wagons (especially the old HAA) can derail on such points. Best avoided!
