Hello all
I'm contemplating a return to railway modelling after many years. The layout is likely to be BR blue, circa 1978-1980, and probably based at least loosely on Chester (the time and location represent my formative spotting years).
In terms of motive power I anticipate primarily running 08s, 25s, 40s and 47s (especially CD based 47/4s). Thrown in will also be the last of the 24s, a couple of kettles which made regular appearances (King George V & Clan Line spring to mind). Green 40106 has to be included. There are also the Sunday "drags" of diverted WCML trains, which I recall as 86/2s and 87s behind 47/4s. DMUs will be as per the prototype, but I can't get too excited about them.
My question to the groups is what other oddities I can get away with, while remaining true to prototype? Anything running in ex-works from Crewe? I don't recall seeing 20s, 31s, 37s or peaks at Chester in those days, and the nearest I saw a 50 was at Crewe on a works open day special.
Thanks
