Has anyone fitted a decoder to the following locos and if so which one did you choose and where did you put it?

Hornby Merchant Navy (Pre DCC socket) Bachmann Austerity 2-8-0 Hornby Terrier Bachmann Manor Bachmann N Class

Thanks

Doesn't it irritate you when you create a typo in the title of a thread....?

Hornby Merchant Navy - there's lot of room inside the chassis go for one with B-emf Lenz golder series, or Digitrax 143, or similar. Bachmann Austerity + Bachmann N Class in both these loco's the decoder is best placed on top of the motor and this needs quite a small decoder go for the TCS M1, or Digitrax 143. Bachmann Manor well this is the split frame chassis as is very easy to deal with a small decoder will sit on the front of the chassis as shown in

don't think terrier is a problem again a small decoder should do the job.

I have taken the body off the Merchant Navy and there seems to be very little room to fit a decoder of any size.

Rob, there's plenty of room in the firebox...

a bit of help with some double sided tape

This is a Zimo MX63 which sizewise is in between a Lenz 1035 and Digitrax DZ143. But I'm sure a Lenz 1035 will go in easy just here.

Thanks, Fil. Very cunning!
