Peco Code 75 and Newer Models

Hi,



Planning for my new layout has rapidly progressed - from buying the baseboards early last week to having them fully screwed down and covered with 9" cork for tracklaying by yesterday teatime. Now I come to choosing track - Code 100 or 75?



I know that 75 looks a lot better, but I also know that some models have problems running on it. At the moment, the layout's 'fleet' is as follows;



Hornby Q1 Bachmann WD 2-8-0 Bachmann 03 Heljan Hymek Hornby Terrier



Will any of those have problems with Code 75? - all are fairly (and in some cases, very) new models, so I'm presuming not, but advice from anyone with experience would be great.



I'm also looking at DCC for control, so I expect the 03 will go off to someone with skills for decoder-fitting!

All will run perfectly well on Code 75. I've used this for maybe five years and apart from having to rewheel some rolling stock (Wrenn Pressflos) I've had no problems with it at all.

It also seems to stay cleaner for longer than Code 100. Although that defies my logic.

Can't say for sure but Hornby do not manufacture to NMRA standards and I assume Walthers do with their track. It may be back-to-back discrepancies or flange way clearances, who knows?

Anyway the question was about Peco Code 75 track and I can assure you unless there is a specific problem with your loco it should work on that.

Thanks John. I currently am using Peco Code100, but we are moving, so I was thinking about Code 75 for the next one, but was concerned if the loco had problems with Code 83 etc.hence the question. Rob

It's nothing to do with the rail height, just a flange clearance thing I reckon.

Cheers again - I've now placed an order for track, and if it arrives as planned tomorrow, things will be going worryingly well!
