I don't see the tie-up between Collectors Club members and Service Dealers? We are service dealers and get virtually nothing for our pains except having the unpaid priviledge of effectively being Hornby's last (and possibly only) line of quality control.
Collectors Club members pay Hornby for the 'honour' of purchasing full-price exlusive limited editions direct from the factory. The service dealer gets absolutely nothing. Collectors' Centres on the other hand get the occasional limited edition model for doing less than the SDs.
Most retailers these days discount most of the stock on their shelves to all-comers - expecting them to discount further for a specific group is a joke.
I quote " Finally, your Club membership card is also enclosed. It may be used to obtain discount from the majority of Service Dealers. However, please contact them directly to confirm they are part of the scheme and the level of discount they are able to give. "
If this is incorrect then I need to get back to Hornby and complain. :-(

If you don't already know Chris they send you one free with each year's subscription. Worth about £14-£15 on eBay.
Last years with DCC on board @ just over £5 with another @ £25 start price
The 2001 edition @ £9.99 start price and, as you said, last years model again @ £14.99 start price.

Start prices that high would kill an auction stone dead. I think I put mine on at 99p plus postage and was very happy to finish at £14-£15. You should never start an auction at more than half of what you think an item will eventually fetch.
