Any of you guys in the UK order N Gauge (or any other for that matter) from USA. If so whats the best payment method if Paypal is not accepted I do have a Visa Card. What charges would I expect to incur, Duty etc.

Items under £18 (approx $32.40) are exempt from import duty and VAT. Items over £18 (even one penny over) are surcharged at 4% of value plus 17.5% VAT. If the package is opened by customs and the invoice includes a shipping charge you will also be charged VAT on that (no kidding).
There is an additional minimum charge of £4 levied by Royal Mail for collecting the duty. This increases acccording to the value of the item. (Parcel Force has a minimum charge of £13 for the same service). Royal Mail does not deliver surcharged items to your door. A card is pushed through your letterbox with the amount owed written on it. You then have to travel to your nearest sorting office to pay the charges and collect the item.
Beware of courier companies, DHL, Federal Express, etc. These are a convenient option for US buyers (and fast too) but the Customs charges are even higher and there are no exemptions.
