Try This Patch Is A Virus

I am sure everyone would know by now, but possibly not ...... any email or post that recommends trying out a patch, claiming to be from Microsoft is a virus/Trojan or similar program of malicious intent. open at your peril

Quite right. Please remember that people such as Microsoft _never_ send you unsolicited emails suggesting that you should try something or advertising any of their products. If you are not expecting an email from them, you can safely ignore anything appearing to originate from them.

What exactly does "people such as Microsoft" actually mean? I get *exactly* these kinds of unsolicited emails all the time from Hewlett Packard. It's part of the support package that comes with all their consumer printers nowadays. Yes, I know, I could switch them off, but that's not the point. It's the "_never_" in your message that I don't understand.

Cheers, Steve
