Single mother in need of explanation

Thank you in advance for your time. I found a neat project to do with my 14 year old son, but would like to know the science behind it so it will be educational.

Here is the video link.

It is a fire cracker experiment, and I know he will love it, but I am clueless as to how this makes my car run

The people who produced the video are clueless as to how an internal combustion engine works. I agree with the model rocket suggestion where the people involved in that hobby actually have an education. Brian

I'm clueless, too, as to the correlation between the two. There is no mention of mixing fuel, compression, valves, valve train, camshaft, timed ignition, or any of ten other things involved in making a car run.

Making a car run is like a symphony. A lot of separate elements working together in close timing. Comparing the firecracker example to making a car run is equal to comparing an off key fart to music produced by a symphony orchestra.

YMMV.
