Splatter?

The amount of spatter depends on several factors such as choice of gas and voltage used. The anti-spatter spray simply prevents the small globules of spatter from sticking to the parent metal near your weld bead. It will not improve your actual weld bead. In some cases too heavy a layer of anti-spatter will cause porosity. You can also spray the inside of your gun nozzle to reduce build-up. Run a practice bead on some scrap before continuing because excessive amounts inside the nozzle will cause porosity. Randy

Looking through catalogue I have seen cans of Anti-Splatter Spray for sale.

How good?

Or is it just down to bad welding when you get really poor looking welds and then blame it on this spray to make it look like its not your fault?

Reason is my welds look OK but not perfect, and was thinking of trying some of this to see if it improves. Strength seams ok but like I said not the best looking.

Save your money and buy some "PAM" cooking spray.

Learned this trick in Ernie's class.

Like Randy says: dial the machine in to reduce splatter.

I mainly use it on my cup & gun to make it easier to clean.
