Balancing a Sig FourStar 40

Hi, I was wondering, I am trying to balance my Four Star 40 kit built plane, but it is very hard to get it to balance anywhere on the wing, I mean move just a tiny bit one way or another and the plane dips, wondering if this is normal for a low wing plane. When I have balanced my high wing trainers, they balance very easily, not so with the Four Star!

It should balance just as easy. If nobody has mentioned it, you do have to do a low wing plane upside down. (Canopy toward the floor)

Ted shuffled out of his cave and grunted these great (and sometimes not so great) words of knowledge:

It will make it A LOT EASIER to balance. The balance point (CG ) will be the same. Also, you balance the plane with an empty fuel tank.

If you're trying to balance it upright, don't. Most of the mass is above the fulcrum point, creating the see-saw effect you're seeing. Turn it upside-down an it will hang nicely.

And once more......turn it upside down.

Yes, balance it upside down as per other instructions...it is easier I am on my second one. Let a buddy have the first one which was just about flown to death. One of the best flying all 'round sport planes on the market....did you build it or are you one of those "buy and fly" types that only use ARF's??
