Build/fly or sell

I've got several kits from 1970-72 in overhead storage. Carl Goldberg Skylark single/twin, Top Flite Kwik-Fli MkIII amoungst them.

Should I build and fly 'em, or should I put them on Ebay for collectors ???

What's yer opinion............

I don't know what else you have, but the two you mention are excellent sport planes. I'd build'em! Dr.1 Driver "There's a Hun in the sun!"

Sounds like you should be able to get 3 to 4 hundred out of Basil. :)

Not really. I want a twin to fly, so it is a quandry with the Skylark. I have a Hobbico Twinstar that I plan on putting on Ebay because of what they are going for - I can get at least double for it what I paid last year before they were discontinued.

Once dried, balsa is no more subject to deterioration than any other wood.

More often than not, 'brittle' or 'flaky' balsa is wood that was infested with mold or bacteria, and that is want caused the wood to 'go off'.

Alas, there is no way to identify wood in a kit with respect to any bacteria or mold which may have survived the kiln. It's not real easy to spot infested wood in bulk form either. Cheers, Fred McClellan the dash plumber at mindspring dot com
