By default, yes, Hitec and Futaba both have the same shift, however, Hitec does make some receivers that have the JR shift ...

and you'll see that there's two different versions of the receiver, one for each shift. Note that I don't suggest buying the Hitec 555 anymore -- I now suggest that people get a FMA M5v2 from radicalrc.com. Similar price, smaller size, plus a DSP to reject glitches. The Berg receivers are also similarly featured and priced.
I'm only aware of one Hitec RX that has adjustable shift -- the Supreme SS. Are there more than that?
Of course, everything we're saying here is US-specific, so if you're not in the US, this may not apply. And we're also talking about FM PPM gear -- PCM gear generally only works with other gear from the same manufacturer.

Servo City is a good place to get stuff. They were a great place when they had free shipping, but now that they just have relatively cheap shipping, they get demoted to a good place :)
