Servocity goes the extra mile

I ordered a few servo extensions and y-harnesses from servocity. I do not have an immediate need for them, no new projects, but the price was petty good and I know I'll need them in the future. Since Hitec flight packs are much less expensive than Futaba, I ordered them with Hitec ends. They didn't receive their order of Hitec y-harnesses, so Tom called me at home and asked if it was OK to substitute Futaba brand harnesses instead, for the same price as the ones I ordered. He offered to send some Hitec ends to replace the male connectors so I wouldn't have to cut the tabs off of the Futaba parts and I said that would be fine. When the order came in, he had actually changed out the ends for me before he shipped the order. I think it was very nice that he did this.

I sent an email thanking him, then decided I'd post this.

They've been criticized a bit in the past week or so for dropping the free shipping on small orders. While I like free shipping, it seems to be very rare in the RC industry on small orders.

I used to order full size race car parts from Jeg's. They had "free shipping" on most items, but every order had a "handling charge" of about $5. Of course $5 to get a $700 torque converter that weighs about 40 pounds, to your door, is still pretty cheap.

Carrell,

That's a kind gesture on their part, but check the connectors well... If these are offbrand aftermarket connectors, with the Hitec and Futaba connectors made by the same company, thet may very well interchange properly.

BUT... If the connectors are OEM Hitec and Futaba.. The lock tabs on the connectors are not in the same positions, and one or the other may not lock the individual wires properly, and they can slip when you plug into them, failing to get a solid connection.

Just as Hitec and Futaba servo wheels won't interchange... I've seen a lotta people try it...

Just a word of caution..

Cheers,

Bill
