Sig Kommander part needed

I built a Sig Kommander years ago, intended to be my second model. I have a couple of other planes now, but this one has never been flown, mostly because I am missing one of the main gear struts, and that kit as been discontinued. The part basically a piece of metal stock bent into a particular shape.



Does anybody have an old wrecked Kommander the want to sell me the main gear strut from? Alternatively does anybody have any suggestions about how I might fab my own or build different gear? This model looks like a bigger version of the Kavalier, but the gear is different. The main gear on the commander is mounted to the wing.

Get some 5/32 music wire and a wire bender and go for it

Perhaps bend it yourself as Don has said, our give SIG a yell. It`s possible they used the same wire "gear" on several of their kits. rick markel

That particular gear leg is too long so it moves around a lot on landing. That gives problems most beginners are not ready to deal with and will contribute to a great many terrible landings. One of my flying buddies substituted a Halco gear on the fuselage and his landings became reasonable.

Find an aluminum set that will screw to the bottom of the fuselage and glue in a ply doubler inside.
