Sig Sealane review anyone?

I am looking to buy the Sig Sealane and would like to read your comments/thoughts about this plane. I plan to build the optional landing gear for it to use from land also. I have an Irvine .53 that I would use in it. Cheers Mike

Made the maiden flight yesterday - off the ground. Made 2 flights before the wind gods came around to spoil the fun. Plane flew nicely with an OS

46FX. I made 3 changes from the kit's instructions. For the optional landing gear, I did not solder the main gear to its trailing support. Instead, I elongated a wheel collar to hold the 2 gear wires together. This will made adding and removing the landing gear much easier. I also changed the tail wheel as I didn't care for Sig's setup. Lastly, I incorporated a hatch for the fuel tank in case I ever need access to the tank. I think my kit was an early production one as there were some missing or incomplete instructions. Overall, not a bad plane. I hope to get it wet in mid-May.

A nice build- I hope you dont mind carving the nose and pylon. Careful with the instructions- they are not 100%.

I added an additional aileron servo and installed dual batteries, lights, and a slightly larger tank- (which required cutting).

Covering the pylon was a bitch. I think that the pylon's sheeting gives structural support to the firewall/mount, so I would not suggest putting a hatch in it, even though it would be nice to have a removable tank.

If I were to redo it, I would have wet, curved and dried the wing sheeting before gluing. This would have prevented warpage that was troublsome to correct.

I have installed a TT .46, and after a break-in, I will test its sea legs. No comments about the landing gear as I chose not to install it.
