Although that would give you a rough indication of TDC, the best you could hope for would be +/-5=B0 with this method. 5=B0 out either way with ignition timing would severely affect performance and economy of most engines. The guy could have done a far more accurate job and saved himself some money with a piston stop:

Aight, I'm intrigued.. how do those work?

Hi John, my instructor on SE synch used to be a machinist,, he explained how and why machinists became so frustrated with most cad systems, very interesting,,, SE and some of the other programs have greased that up, but only lately with PMI protocols or whatever thats called.
