Fraudulent eBay listing

This is a 100% certified scam, I spoke to the "seller" of this item, he sounds a lot like the scammer from Belotesti, Romania, whose leg I pulled before.

Same shit, item is located too far, free ship via DHL (on a Synchrowave 250, yeah right), agreed to a ridiculously low price, wants my details to "initiate eBay transaction" etc.

Some real people are bidding on this thing and I do not want them to lose their money to some dirty Romanian scammer.

But seriously.

You gave your friend advice. He didn't take it and he got into trouble. Therefore, you shouldn't have given the advice.

Your story is fine IMO, but it has a different moral than what you suggest.

As an animal lover..I learned long ago, you simply cannot save all the puppies and kittens, no matter how much you want to.

iggy, sometimes you just have to let people do what they will. To wit: my friend called me and wanted me to go with him to his girlfriend's house to get back an expensive engagement ring. (She had since been in the "company" of men, and was not a candidate for a good wife.)

I told him no. I would not go, and for him not to go. He (we) would be on her property, and in the eyes of the law, we would be the bad guys. Did he listen? Noooooooooo. He went over, got into a scuffle with her, she broke his finger (had to have surgery), and she said he hit her. (Not sure if he did or not, but she had it coming.)

Warrant time.

Domestic violence.

Fast forward six months later, many anger management classes, and thousands of dollars.

I appreciate your heads up on Romanian scammers. And I really feel for those taken in on scammy deals. I was an ebay Power Seller for quite a bit before ebay became a haven for cheap Chinese knockoffs and scummy scammers. But, if someone's stupid enough to fall for the line, just like with the girls, you gotta let them earn their scars.

And yes, there are pattern ebayers who scam repeatedly. If they didn't catch suckers, they'd be off selling bibles or car insurance. So, there's something there for them.

Sometimes, iggy, you just have to watch the stupid wildebeest wander into the lion's pride.

Huh? You see a friend sail off into an area where you know he's gonna crash. I shouldn't have told him he was running towards a cliff? Be real man.

Please with hold the moral for the suspense factor.

Thank you for your fine moral analysis. However, coming from "John Doe", it does lose a little in translation.

I have run into "John Does" frequently.

AFIS straightens it out before daylight.

Had it coming? I hope you don't really think that way.

Also - he's been an eBay Member since 2002. If he's a scammer, he plans ahead.

Actually, the scammers took over a good person's account.

So what does one of these things normally go for? I see the listing is still up.

SteveB, I think that you did the right thing, you warned your friend about the dangers. Same thing as I am trying to do. I am glad that you liked the router table, at least now I know that it found a good home.

I agree with this completely. It appears that the original account holder specializes in selling furs. To suddenly start offering expensive welding equipment (and ONLY that) should have been a tip-off to potential buyers that something might be wrong.

Yes, I did.

Why?

If they do not lose their money to the scammer, they will lose it to someone else.

The outcome is not the least in doubt. Nor is it in any manner preventable.

I have never hit a woman unless she was reaching in her purse during an argument. The girl in question was picking out carpet for the house, setting up credit accounts all over town, and still finding time to "service" several friends she hadn't adequately said goodbye to. The best thing to do with a lying cheating w**re is to get away from her. He wouldn't do that.

And yes, if someone was breaking my finger, I'd hit them. (male or female) When you do that, "you have it coming." But that's just me.

YMMV

Then, you're going to be buying the welder?

Hold your phone calls, folks, we have a winner. One of the first things I saw was furs2you or something like that. I guess in that trade, you would use a welding machine to remove hides from animals, right?
