MT2 to 3/4-16 Adapter?

Sep 09, 2010 3 Replies

Other than Severance, does anyone know of a source for a Morse Taper #2 (male) to 3/4-16 (male) adapter?

Essentially, I'm trying to adapt a tapping head with a 3/4-16 female mount to a MT2 machine I am supplying.

Severance sells them but the delivery time is WAY out of my needed timeframe.

Machine a blank arbor?

======== Fastest/cheapest way may be to machine a blank arbor. 3/4X16 sounds big for any Jacobs taper, but Little Machineshop has blank #2 arbors with 1-1/4 dia X 1_1/2 heads and drawbars. Inport of course, but the several I have purchases are top quality.

They also have an industrial division with good values see

My only connection is as a customer, but FWIW everything I have purchased has been top quality w/ fast delivery,

Well ... I had to make a similar adaptor for a similar tapping head.

What I did was get one of the blank MT-2 arbors -- the MT-2 part is properly sized, ground, and hardened, but the extension is about 3/4" or 1" diameter soft steel cylinder which is easy to turn and thread as needed.

Google found the above. They have them for $4.90 each (DCA-BL2), and the blank section is 7/8" diameter by 1-1/8" long.

When I needed them I found them at "Grand Tools" and got several against future needs.

Good luck, DoN.
